1. Who we are
KnowLay is operated by J&P Global LLC, 17350 State Hwy 249, Ste 220, Houston, TX 77064, United States ("KnowLay", "we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described in this policy.
This policy applies to www.knowlay.com and the learning services offered on it.
2. Data we collect
If you bought from us before on our previous learning platform (Thinkific), we hold the enrollment and order records migrated from it and link them to your account by email address.
- Account data: name, email address and profile picture received from Google when you sign in. We never see your Google password.
- Learning data: courses and bundles you are enrolled in, lesson progress, quiz answers and results, and completion status.
- Purchase data: order records, product, amount, date and the payer email supplied by PayPal. We do not store your card or PayPal login details.
- Technical data: IP address, browser, device type, pages visited and error logs created by our servers and hosting provider.
- Communications: messages you send us and details of coaching sessions you book.
3. How we use your data
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and securing the service, legal obligations, and your consent where we ask for it.
- To create your account, sign you in and give you access to the courses you are entitled to.
- To save your progress, grade quizzes and show your learning history.
- To process payments, manage subscriptions and grant or end access.
- To deliver coaching, answer support requests and send service messages.
- To secure the service, prevent abuse and fix errors.
- To meet legal and tax obligations.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use a small set of first-party cookies and browser storage that the site needs to work:
- Session cookies set by our authentication service to keep you signed in.
- A "lang" cookie that remembers your language and a "theme" cookie that remembers light or dark mode.
- Temporary browser storage that returns you to the page you were on after signing in.
5. Service providers
We share data with providers that process it for us, only as needed to run the service:
- Google: sign-in.
- Supabase: database and authentication.
- Bunny.net: video hosting and streaming. Your device connects to Bunny when a lesson video plays.
- DigitalOcean: website hosting.
- PayPal: payment processing. PayPal handles your payment details under its own privacy policy.
- Google Fonts: fonts loaded by your browser, which discloses your IP address to Google.
6. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Beyond the providers above, we share data with the human coaches you book, with professional advisers, and with authorities where the law requires it or to protect rights and safety.
If KnowLay is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
7. International transfers
We and our providers operate in several countries, including the United States. When we transfer data out of your country we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, where the law requires them.
8. Retention
We keep your data while your account is active. After you close it, we keep what we must for legal, tax, fraud-prevention and dispute purposes, then delete or anonymize it.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your data, to receive a portable copy, and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may ask you to verify your identity first.
10. Children
KnowLay is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you believe a minor has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Security
We protect data with encrypted connections, access controls and restricted database access. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Do not share sensitive information such as health details, financial account numbers or government IDs in coaching messages or AI coaching.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will notify you on the site or by email.
